2019 Mazda CX-9

<p>There are four trim levels for the 2019 Mazda CX-9: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, and Signature. The baseline Sport comes with a number of advanced features, such as LED headlights and taillights and tri-zone automatic climate control. Moving up to the Touring will add several convenience features, including a power liftgate, auto-dimming rearview mirror, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic headlights. </p><p>The CX-9 Grand Touring adds to the Touring's feature set with 20-inch wheels, heated seats in the front and rear, a power moonroof, and plenty more. Drivers with a focus on the finer things will enjoy the Signature, a trim that adds Nappa leather seat upholstery, rosewood trim, and other fancy additions.</p>

Regardless of trim level, all 2019 CX-9 models use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Horsepower ratings reach 227 with regular gasoline and up to 250 with premium. Front-wheel drive is standard with the option to upgrade to all-wheel drive, and a six-speed automatic transmission is featured on all models. The one excepting is the Signature, which is all-wheel drive standard. Fuel ratings get as high as 22 miles per gallon in city driving and 28 mpg in highway driving with front-wheel drive models. Even in all-wheel drive, those numbers only drop by two.

Firm anti-lock disc brakes on all four wheels, performance-tuned handling, and a toggled manual driving mode all add up to a much more rewarding driving style than much of the CX-9's competition. Multiple driving modes are available, including a Sport mode for more energetic shifting. If you and your family need a good towing vehicle, the CX-9 has solid ratings of up to 3,500 lbs.

<p>The 2019 CX-9 is one of the bigger crossovers on the market and is designed to offer extra room on the inside. Each of the seat rows is comfortable for adults, even the third row, which for other SUVs is typically reserved for children. As for hauling cargo, the rear area has 14.4 cubic feet of space, and folding the second and third rows down will expand that to 71.2 cubic feet, perfect for moving day.</p> <p>A number of available upgrades give CX-9 drivers the chance to customize their Mazda SUVs in the ways that matter most to them. Some of the most appealing optional features included front seat cooling, an 8-inch touch screen, a premium Bose sound system, and much more. </p>

Standard safety equipment on all 2019 Mazda CX-9 models includes hill launch assist, advanced blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, traction control, dynamic stability control, and an advanced air bag suite. Higher models add automatic radar cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and lane departure warning with lane keep assist. Overall, the 2019 CX-9 was awarded five out of five stars in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash tests.
