2019 Mazda CX-5

<p>The 2019 Mazda CX-5 has five trim level: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature. While the Sport has a great selection of standard tech, comfort, and entertainment features, the Touring adds various improvements, like dual-zone automatic climate control and simulated leather upholstery. The Grand Touring adds real leather, a sunroof, full navigation, and plenty more on top of available features like ventilated front seats.</p> <p>The Grand Touring Reserve includes the new engine upgrade and all the features on the Grand Touring, plus the optional features drivers could choose whether to get on the Grand Touring. The Signature also features the new engine while also adding everything from the Grand Touring Reserve, some driver guidance features, and cabin luxuries such as wood trim accents and premium leather.</p>

The Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring each use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. For 2019, the CX-5 received a more powerful engine for the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature models: a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder generating 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The baseline engine is equipped for front-wheel drive, while the new turbo variant uses all-wheel drive, and both engines use a six-speed automatic transmission. It should be noted that when filled with 91 octane gasoline, the turbocharged engine gets 250 horsepower instead of 227.

Many choose Mazda vehicles over the competition for the responsive driving style alone, and that applies even more in 2019. The CX-5's cabin is smooth and silent at highway speeds, and the new turbocharged engine is perfect for drivers who wanted a little more thrust compared to last year. Regardless of which engine you choose, the steering and cornering are a real treat, and you may find yourself looking for winding detours on your family road trips.

Mazdas are made to be equally comfortable for the driver and all passengers, and this design philosophy makes an already roomy vehicle even better. Standard cabin features on the Sport model include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button start, Bluetooth, four audio speakers, two USB media ports, and a 7-inch touch screen for infotainment. For 2019, the infotainment system has both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay newly added to the Touring and higher models. Another update is ventilated front seats available on some trim levels.

<p>Each CX-5 comes with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and low-speed forward collision warning and automatic mitigation. With the 2019 model, drivers can opt for full protection with a 360-degree surround-view guided parking camera system, which is standard on the CX-5 Signature.</p> <p>Available on the Sport and standard on all other trims is the Sport i-ACTIVSENSE package. This suite of advanced tech adds lane departure warnings with lane keep assist, enhanced forward collision warning with a pedestrian detector, adaptive cruise control, and automatic wipers, headlights, and high beams.</p>
